The New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) at Cornell University was established in 1945 as the world's first school for college-level study in industrial and labor relations. Along with Penn State, ILR offers one of only two four-year undergraduate programs in industrial and labor relations in the United States. ILR is a leader in graduate education in human resources and industrial relations along with the University of Minnesota's Industrial Relations Center (IRC; est. 1945) and the University of Illinois' Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations (ILIR; est. 1945). ILR is a New York contract college. The School is served by the Martin P. Catherwood Library.
